We leverage information from conversational Artificial Intelligence (AI) and our ever-growing healthcare consumer intent library, building from the consumers’ perspective to meet them in the way they’re seeking care. The terms curated over time in our rich intent library stem from deep amounts of real-time consumer data and a variety of publicly-available sources over decades of research, so our taxonomy library continues to expand.

We provide a comprehensive clinical taxonomy library of conditions and treatments and their associated provider specialties. Once a provider is assigned a specialty, they inherit the clinical taxonomy of that specialty. It can then be customized based on the provider’s practice preferences. Locations inherit the taxonomy of the providers that work there, and can be customized by location.

The benefit of taxonomy is to enable a more robust search experience for users on the front end. Patients can search using terms associated with “conditions & diseases” and “treatments & procedures” rather than just traditional specialty and subspecialty filtering; e.g., search results are returned when users type in terms like “acid reflux,” “whooping cough,” “tubal ligation,” or “mammogram.” The health system also has the ability to configure the search results of what’s displayed when terms are searched, so they can surface providers, locations, or both, and even rank order providers based on taxonomy terms.
